Boil Bay Cajun Seafood and Bar

Great seafood spot in Henrico, Va. located in a shopping center in a well traveled area. I was greeted with a smile and the establishment is very clean, well appointed to give you the feel of a great seafood experience. I decided not to do a seafood boil because that’s always my go-to at these types of restaurants. So I started with two appetizers: the Cajun fried rice with chicken, shrimp and sausage. It was quite delicious. The rice was prepared perfectly and I did not need to add anything to it. I will definitely order this again and again. The chicken wings were my second appetizer and I love that they are fried crispy with what seems to be a buttermilk batter. I asked for the Cajun seasoning on the side. Next up was the lobster roll which was also a win. I ended the meal with the soft shell crab basket and a side of cole slaw. I came here many times and was satisfied with the food and service. The karaoke nights and the waitresses are phenomenal. However, the owner has some serious attitude issues. I ordered a boil bag for dinner and it made me sick with one of the crabs having a strong ammonia smell. I came back the following day hoping to get my order fixed. The manager Asian guy had the nastiest attitude(didn’t apologize nothing)...handed my bag in the nastiest way. My original order was two blue crabs, shrimp, and blue mussels. I get I ate majority of the blue mussles and shrimp. WHICH I SAID FROM THE GET GO. However, one of the blue crab had an ammonia smell and one crab I brought it back to them. Dude only gave me a half of pound of shrimp in my bag not even the blue crab back. I thought he was adding the shrimp for courtesy and the crab… since I had to drive 20 there and 20mins back… NO he did not. I came back complaining about not receiving the crab… again drove 20mins there. And he again have an attitude and refuse to fix the order or refund it… he just offered two crabs… not considering the gas I put in coming there and back. I used to love this place because of the atmosphere and the other workers but this was the last time.

Overall, it was a good experience. I was promptly greeted upon arrival and taken to my seat. My server, Messiah, was very attentive to my order. Beverages came back quickly. The appetizer, calamari, was hot as if it was just pulled out of the fryer; however, they were a bit rubbery. A minor glitch though - I was waiting an extended period of time for the rest of my order. In that time, my server asked me if I wanted to order dessert. I told him that I hadn't received my meal yet. Oops! He promptly looked into the matter. When he brought it to me, everything was warm - not as if had been sitting under a warming lamp warm, but freshly prepared warm. The portions were very reasonable; I ended up taking a lot of it home. Outside of the mishap with the delay in getting my meal, it was a pleasant experience. I'll return for another meal.

Door-Dash self pick up order Food was to be ready in 18mins, ok, I arrived less than 15mins. Food was ready when I walked in The food wasn't hot. Smell very fishy, the wings juice or sauce spilled everywhere since it bled through the paper products used for take off including the carrier bag. 2 crab cake baskets with fries/ 1order of fried wings Crab cake basket with fries (my meal) Crab cakes super thin and kinda rubbery, the sauce on the side gave the food taste. Fries were cold and wet/soggy. Not worth $13.99 thou but I understand the increase in today's economic situation. My co-worker input Wings were ok, cold saturated in grease wasn't sure of what to make of the sauce yet wings were very salty. Her crab cakes were salty. To give a fair review she wants to eat in and review again. No long waiting line is a plus, enough parking was a plus, seen foot traffic coming out with bags
